The “eVTOLs” parallel forum of the 2nd International Conference on Green Aviation (ICGA2024) was held in Chengdu, Sichuan, on November 6-7, 2024.
This forum was jointly hosted by Technical Committee of Flying Car of CSAA and Technical Committee of Electric Aviation of CSAA.
The keynote session was moderated by Professor Shichun YANG, Dean of the School of Transportation Science and Engineering, Beihang University. Keynote speakers included Professor Yuping QIAN from Tsinghua University, who discussed the impact of ground effect on the flow stability of ducted fan propulsion systems for flying cars, and Professor Haiying LIN from Beihang University, who presented on key technologies for low-altitude transport systems. Professor Weida WANG from Beijing Institute of Technology reviewed the progress of research on modular flying car technologies, while Hong SHI, Chief Operating Officer of Zero-G shared insights on the opportunities and challenges in urban air mobility. Louise LU, Chief Marketing Officer of INFLYNC, provided updates on tilt-wing eVTOL technology.
The roundtable discussion was moderated by Min MIN, Executive Secretary of the Technical Committee of Flying Car of CSAA. Prominent industry players participated, including Lisha ZHOU, Co-founder and CEO of Monta Vista Energy Technology Corporation; Dongfang ZHOU, Industry Manager at Wolong Electric; Kaiming CHEN, Founder of Shanghai Zhefei Aviation Technology; Chengwei NING, SE Manager of Boundary.AI; Xiao WU, R&D Director of G-EDRIVE; and Weiwei MAO, Product Marketing Manager of AVIAGE SYSTEMS. The roundtable explored key issues and challenges in the eVTOL industry, including industry trends, artificial intelligence applications in eVTOL development, and the technological challenges facing the sector.
On November 7, the eVTOL technical session featured six outstanding paper authors, moderated by Peng CHEN, Deputy Director of the Technical Committee of Electric Aviation of CSAA. The paper writers from The Second Research Institute of CAAC, Beihang University, AVIC Xi'an Flight Automatic Control Research Institute, Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics, and Shenyang Aerospace University. These presentations focused on key eVTOL technologies, safety considerations, and the opportunities and challenges in low-altitude economy development. The forum made significant contributions to the future of eVTOL technology and urban air mobility, fostering international collaboration and innovation in this emerging field.
